December 5, 2018 Children

There are three years of pre-school in Uganda.  The first is called “Baby.” Miracle has just graduated and is now in “Middle.”

He turned 5 last December 6th.

Both of Miracle’s parents are alive, but both are HIV Positive. His mother dropped out of school and into an early marriage.  The father became HIV Positive while looking for work in the city. When his mother discovered she was HIV positive, she divorced Miracle’s father and married another man.

Ultimately, both parents abandoned him. Now he lives with elderly grandparents where there is often nothing to eat.  Fortunately, Miracle tests negative for HIV.

For a child like this, school becomes a refuge, a home, a source of fun, love, food – and education, hopefully for a better future.
